We are a group made up primarily of friends with a mix of old and new hands, full time and part time Buffs members in UK, USA, France and Spain. At present we portray soldiers of the flank companies, wife's, camp followers and sutlers in the later stages of the Peninsula war/ American war.
We are all ordinary people coming from all walks of life from office workers to gardeners to lawyers. We come together to share a common interest in history and enjoy shedding the stress of 21st century life to enjoy a few beers around the campfire after a hard day of giving the French a damn good drubbing!
We are one of the oldest Regiments raised in 1572 and the original Buff faced regiment wearing coats of Buff since our beginning. We fought in many of the major actions of the Peninsular and only just missed Waterloo, busy fighting in the USA. Our colours are the Howard Dragon the regiment’s ancient badge of honour.
We enjoy good links with the present regiment and museum in Canterbury making regular visits. We try to be re-enactors for all seasons offering opportunities for the all weather soldier, lady, sutler or camp follower, ladies you are not expected to be camp followers if you don’t carry a gun. Anyone can be anything, you need only learn the role. Freedom to explore our hobby!
We pride ourselves
on our living history we tailor our camp to different events (at home, in the USA or Spain) allowing variety in the roles we play. Unusually we carry both Baker rifles and the Brown Bess giving you the best of both worlds!! With many events both in the UK and abroad there is plenty for all weather living history, Film work or blowing up fortresses!! We are friends with
a common interest is history, having fun and getting it right with no politics. So if you fancy a coat of red, a flintlock in your hand, stand
with Latham and defend the colours then,
COME FOLLOW THE DRAGON!!
